Synopsis
John, a successful fashion executive, lives with his wife, Nora, and their two young children on a suburban Long Island estate. Because of a childhood trauma suffered when he discovered his mother making love with two strangers, he experiences abnormal sexual drives. He asks Nora to dress as a prostitute and to caress him as if he were her child in order to arouse his desire. She acquiesces but refuses to join his encounter group for sex parties. Deprived of the true love she needs, Nora joins a theater group at John's insistence and tries to find satisfaction in acting. She joins her old friend Helen in a lesbian affair but extricates herself when Helen brings home an Oriental woman for a threesome. She devotes herself to the theater group and falls in love with the director, Mel. One day she learns that John had arranged her two affairs because he was aroused at the thought of her infidelity. Furious, she joins the sex group for a night and then walks out with the children.
