Synopsis

A prologue referring to Abraham and Isaac stresses the desirability of honoring one's parents, especially mothers, who sacrifice their lives for their children. The story opens with a surprise birthday party for Eddie Rabinowitz given by his parents, David and Mae (played by Mae Simon), his brother, Seymour, and his sister, Helen, all of whom obviously are fond of one other. When David is killed, however, Mae must go to work, and the children cause her no end of anguish: Eddie Stein leads Helen astray, and Seymour spends his mother's money. Years later, Seymour, now a prominent lawyer, hears of a woman abandoned by her children, agrees to force them to support her, and is introduced to his own mother. Mae forgives him, and the family is reunited.
