Synopsis
Eve Edgarton, who travels all over the world with Paul, her botanist father, decides to devote herself to a quiet life of studying flora. Approving of her high-mindedness, Paul arranges a marriage between Eve and his aged colleague, John Elbertson, thereby guaranteeing for his daughter a future abundant in plants but lacking in passion. Before the wedding, however, Eve meets James Barton, a man her own age but with none of the same intellectual interests. Although she cannot explain it scientifically, Eve nevertheless falls in love with him, after which John, realizing the suitability of a match between Eve and her new suitor, breaks his engagment with her so that she can marry James.
