Synopsis
When Clifford Wayne is found standing over the body of John Griswold, his wife Dorothy's rejected suitor, he is sent to prison for murder. Years later, Dorothy is running a millinery shop when one of her patrons, Mrs. Maillard, notices her daughter Elaine's artistic ability and insists upon sponsoring her in art school. Elaine enrolls in a class taught by Frank Mayne, who unknown to her, is actually Wayne, her father. Also in the class is Mrs. Maillard's son Ford, who falls in love with Elaine, and Hindu student Ali Delna, who practices hypnotism on the girl. One evening, while Mayne is away from the studio, Ali exerts his hypnotic influence over Elaine and forces her to come to the studio. Ford discovers the two struggling and accuses Elaine of infidelity. At that moment, Mayne returns and explains Delna's hypnotic powers, freeing Elaine from all suspicion. Soon after, Elaine's mother arrives and recognizes Mayne as her husband, and thus the family is finally reunited.
