Synopsis

When Dick Allison comes to the aid of dispossessed Southerner Mary Ann Hubbard, the two become close friends. After Dick's departure for the North, Mary falls upon severe financial difficulties and decides to appeal to her old friend in New York. Dick is flustered to see Mary, who arrives on the eve of his bachelor party, but prevails upon his fiancée, Betsy Caldwell, to offer the girl lodgings. While staying with Betsy, Mary discovers her affair with Wilbur Darcey, and attempts to break up the liaison by vamping Darcey, thus incurring Dick's disapproval. Driven back to the South by Dick's reproaches, Mary takes refuge in an old shack. Soon after, Dick discovers Betsy's true nature and, realizing his love for Mary, rushes to her retreat and begs her forgiveness.
