Synopsis

In 1849, Tom Mingle, a pony express rider, saves his sweetheart, Sally Madison, from a buffalo stampede. Later, when Sally's brother refuses to accompany her through Indian territory to the California gold fields to visit her ailing mother, Tom takes his place. The townspeople, hoping to strike-it-rich, form a wagon train and appoint Tom wagonmaster. When the train is attacked by Indians, only Sally and Tom survive. They are taken as prisoners to the Indians' village where Chief Swift Wind falls in love with Sally, and Starlight, Swift Wind's sister, becomes infatuated with Tom. Sally and Tom are able to escape to a buffalo hunter's encampment after which Sally slips away and summons help. Finally, in California, Sally is reunited with her parents and promises to marry Tom.
