Synopsis

In order to improve service, Dan Oakley imposes stringent rules on the B. and A. workers when he is named manager of the railroad yard. Accustomed to the slackness of his predecessor, the workers rebel against Dan, and after he gives a job to his ex-convict father Roger, they call a strike that soon gets unruly. During some fighting, a fire breaks out, and when the water supply is cut off, it appears that the entire town will go up in flames. Dan and Roger manage to bring in water and fire-fighting apparatus from another town, however, and Dan finally is able to put out the blaze, although not before Roger dies in it. Then, impressed with the grit of their manager, the men decide to call off their strike and go back to work for him.
