Synopsis

American ski bum Mike Zuetell meets veteran Ron Funk in France, and they set out together in a Volkswagen microbus to ski in the Alps. Along the way they pick up a third American, Ed Ricks. Their money soon runs out, but by employing a mathematical system developed in Zuetell's doctoral thesis on games of chance, they win a fortune at roulette in Monte Carlo. They buy a Porsche and visit the highest peaks in Europe, skiing and watching some of the world's greatest skiers. In their travels they meet famed mountain climber Gaston Rebuffat. When their money runs out again they return to Monte Carlo and sell the Porsche for capital. This time, however, they lose everything, and they set out on foot for further skiing adventures.
