Synopsis

Twin brothers Nelson and J. Barrington Drake return home to celebrate their parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. Barrington, a successful oil magnate, suggests to Nelson, a quiet country parson plagued with a dwindling flock of parishioners, that methods of salesmanship could successfully be applied to the ministry. To test this, Barrington goes to his brother's church posing as Nelson. Barrington's unorthodox sermons and use of a jazz band with the choir, attract curiousity seekers to fill the normally vacant pews. He falls in love with Bessie Judd, the sister of Nelson's fiancée Kitty, after kissing her by mistake. When the deacon of the church, Abel Cruck, and his son attempt to buy the church property because of oil underneath it, Barrington notifies Nelson, who returns and exposes the Crucks' plot to the community. At the end, Barrington marries Bessie, and Nelson marries Kitty, who was the only one in the town not fooled by the brothers' ruse.
