Synopsis

En route to America, Joe Hoggart persuades several other immigrants to pool their money to buy a tract of land, which years later proves to be rich in oil. Hoggart, with the assistance of Shopps, seeks to control the other members' certificates. In Spain, he finds that Garros has died, and he kidnaps Garros' daughter Rolande and announces her death. Bouchard, another member of the group, who has become wealthy, gathers all its members and the heirs together. Hoggart lures them into a building where, ostensibly, the sale is to take place, and imprisons them, but they escape in time to be present at the sale. Bouchard marries Thérèse, another Garros daughter, and d'Espail, learning that Rolande is still alive, rescues her from Hoggart.
