Synopsis
Master crook "Velvet" Joe Grim nervously passing time in Central Park before robbing the Wall Street subtreasury, chases a squirrel up a tree when it steals his bag of peanuts, and there sees Laura White on a runaway horse. Smitten after rescuing her, Joe later attempts to steal her photograph, but her friend, Countess Briand, holds him at bay with a revolver. The Countess, the leader of a German spy ring, which includes Laura's fiancé, Karl Richter, convinces Joe to steal plans for a new airplane, which she says are papers being used to blackmail Laura. After Joe realizes his mistake, he steals the plans back and rescues Laura from Richter, who has kidnapped her. Secret Service men sent to watch Joe by Laura's father, their chief, help him prevent the spies from leaving by ship. Now Joe, vowing to go straight, can marry Laura.
