Synopsis

Faced by the stipulation of a will that she be married within 3 days, Ann Harper plots with her cousin, Betty, to get herself "compromised" in order to force the consent of their disgruntled spinster aunts to a marriage--to be followed, as soon as possible, by a divorce. Gil Barry, a jobless and hungry country lad, is befriended by Terry and Andy, two unscrupulous cake-eaters who make the acquaintance of the spinsters (Katherine and Sarah) and take them on a spree. They promote Gil as a young man willing to be "compromised," and he is effectively vamped by Ann. The spinsters confront Ann and her unwilling lover and declare him to be ineligible; Ann declares she will nevertheless marry him, forfeiting the fortune; but Andy and Terry force them to relent and are amply rewarded by Ann.
