Synopsis

In Scotland, sweet Kitty MacKay suffers the cruelty of the MacGregors, her adopted aunt and uncle, until her guardian, Lord Inglehart, summons her to England, where she falls in love with his son David. Learning that through a former escapade of his father, the girl is really his sister, David rejects her love, and she returns forlornly to Scotland and her unhappy life with the MacGregors. Kitty is delivered from her melancholy life when her uncle confesses on his deathbed that the real daughter of Lord Inglehart had died and that she, Kitty, was adopted in her place to secure the allowance from his lordship. Kitty, thus freed from the stigma of being Lord Inglehart's illegitimate daughter, is free to pursue her love for David.
