Synopsis
Varley, neglectful of his wife, learns that she is infatuated with philanderer Despard. When she goes to his apartment to recover certain incriminating letters, she makes a quick exit and does not know that the man is subsequently murdered. She seeks refuge in another apartment, the occupant of which, Maitland, is aware of her affair with Despard. When Maitland attempts burglary and assault, he accidently shoots himself, and, dying, he confesses to the murder of Despard and thus exonerates the wife.
