Synopsis

Leaving her small town home and coming to New York to study voice, Marian Lane soon falls in love with Allen Crauben, who deserts her when she becomes pregnant. The child dies in infancy, and then, after finding a job as a nurse, Marian begins a romance with the straitlaced Dr. George Page, who believes her to be a widow. After their wedding, however, George finds out the truth about Marian and orders her out of the house. Just then, Marian sees Allen in the street, and when she identifies him as her former lover, George goes out to fight him. While grappling with George, Allen dies when his revolver goes off accidentally, after which George, realizing that Marian had been much more a victim than a temptress, is reconciled with his wife.
