Synopsis

Jennie Dobson, orphaned in Jamaica, grows to maturity under the guardianship of Capt. Bill Hennessey, a sea dog who tries to persuade Ginger to accompany him to England. She meets and falls in love with Clifford Standish, an Englishman in exile and an alcoholic. Establishing herself at his plantation, she saves him from being robbed and murdered, and he eventually proposes marriage. His brother comes from England to tell him he has inherited a fortune and is shocked when Clifford marries Ginger. In England she is coldly received by his relations; Clifford reverts to a life of dissipation; and when Ginger discovers a guest cheating at cards, a disturbance follows and Mrs. Standish insists that she return to Jamaica. Clifford, realizing the worth of her love, rejects his family and returns with her.
