Synopsis

Announcing that she and her cousin Claiborne want to sell the land left to them by their family, Mary Lane is besieged by speculators hoping to buy the property. One of the honest real estate men, Roland Manning, falls in love with her while he prepares a sale that will benefit both himself and Mary. However, Wade Dempster, an unscrupulous land speculator, plans to steal the land from Claiborne by getting him drunk. To rid himself of competition, Wade has Roland arrested for a murder that Wade himself committed. The judge, practically assuring Wade that he will get the land, then sentences Roland to years of hard labor. Oscar Nelson, a jealous former sweetheart of Mary who witnessed the murder but still allowed that Roland be unjustly charged, then changes his mind and exposes Wade as the real killer. Roland and Mary then get married and keep the land in the family.
