Synopsis
Richard Hill, a changemaker on the subway, mistakenly believes that Jeanette Stewart, a beautiful young woman of moderate means, is an accomplice in a robbery and therefore follows her to the exclusive Long Island home of Richard Thorpe, a wealthy man-about-town whom Jeanette is to marry on the following day. Unknown to Richard, he is in turn followed by a detective who believes him to have been pilfering money from the Metropolitan Transit. Jeanette mistakes Richard for a burglar and knocks him cold; when he regains consciousness she takes pity on him, however, and helps him elude the detective. Richard asks Jeanette to marry him, but she refuses. The following day, Richard kidnaps Jeanette from church and forces her to marry him, letting her know that he is the son of a well-to-do hotel owner and not just a changemaker in a booth.
