Synopsis
Cinderella, a little slavey, works for a pittance cleaning up after a kindly artist during the World War. By inadvertently exposing a light during an air raid scare, she arouses the suspicion of a policeman, who follows her home and discovers that, in her spare time, she runs the Penny Friend Shop, devoting herself to the care and feeding of four war orphans. The policeman loses his heart to Cinderella and helps her to care for the little ones. Cinderella falls asleep in the snow one night and dreams of pumpkin coaches, fairy godmothers, and good fairies. She becomes ill from exposure, and the policeman proposes that they be married; Cinderella gratefully accepts.
