Synopsis

In the days before the Great War, Genelle and Gaspard, apaches, operate a harlequin show in Paris, while Pitou, the clown, robs the audience. Later, as Coralyn, a dancer, the girl meets the Duchesse de Chazarin and Allenby, an Englishman who knows Genelle and Coralyn to be the same person. Genelle steals a famous emerald from the duchess, and, warned by Allenby, she escapes to an apache den. At the outbreak of war, Coralyn becomes a Red Cross nurse under the name of Joan Parker, and the suffering and danger of the battlefield effect a change in her character. To escape the influence of Gaspard, she comes to America to visit with Hugh Duyker, an American soldier, and refuses to aid Gaspard (who arrives posing at Count Oudry) in stealing a jewel from Mrs. Duyker. Genelle attempts to thwart Gaspard's plot and is herself accused; Gaspard escapes with the jewel but is killed by detectives; and Genelle, vindicated, is united with Allenby.
