Synopsis
New York society girl Evelyn Whitney, engaged to a man of her set, determines to prove that she can make her own living in the Lower East Side. After failing as a factory worker and waitress, she makes good as Mary Malone, a cafe singer, and falls in love with ex-gangleader Larry Marshall. When Stella, a jealous rival, attacks her, Larry shoots the girl, and Evelyn flees to her home where she has a lengthy illness. Learning of his trial, she reaches the courtroom in time to give evidence that frees him, and they are married.
