Synopsis

Gabrielle is caught while attempting to rob the home of philanthropist William Chatfield, but, rather than turn her over to the police, Chatfield offers her a home and rehabilitation. His cynical friend John Dryden scoffs at the idea and later proposes to Gabrielle that she be his mistress. Although Gabrielle is attracted to Dryden, she scorns his offer and undergoes a transformation while he hunts in the Congo. There is a rather vague ending in which Dryden returns, gives a wild party, is shot, changes his attitude, and declares his love for Gabrielle. "... The spectator is left slightly in doubt as to whether the heroine married the kindly philanthropist ... or the super-cynic ... ." ( Exhibitors Trade Review, 31 Mar 1923.) It is suggested, however, that Dryden won the bride.
