Synopsis

Cowboy Bob Speed and his sidekick "Coyote" Bill Dwyer are drifting along when they discover Peggy Rankin being harassed by Jean La Roque, a French-Canadian outlaw. Bob interrupts the assault and sends La Roque on his way. Later, after Peggy's prospector father Jim, locates a gold vein, he is captured by La Roque and his gang, but Bob and Coyote again come to the rescue. Bob and Coyote then move on to the town of Whiskey Flat where they are welcomed by the sheriff, but observed by La Roque and his partner, Pedro Sánchez. When Sánchez attempts to shoot Bob, Bob beats him to the draw and shoots him in the hand. Later, while some of La Roque's men follow Jim to his dig, La Roque returns to Peggy's cabin and tells her that he has taken her father prisoner and that she must join him. Bob has secretly observed all this and rescues Peggy, then Jim, who has been tortured into partially revealing the location of his yet-to-be registered claim. Bob then tells Jim that he will guard the claim until he recovers. Meanwhile, La Roque sends Sánchez to jump the claim while he goes after Peggy once more. Sánchez finds the claim first, but Bob arrives and accidentally ignites a box of Jim's blasting powder, killing Sánchez's men. As Sánchez dies, he tells Bob of La Roque's whereabouts. La Roque has entered the cabin where Peggy is caring for her father and attempts to kidnap her, but Bob arrives and after a fistfight hands over La Roque to the sheriff. Bob, by now in love with Peggy, decides to cease his wandering and stay with her.
