Synopsis

Mrs. Lamar prefers that her daughter Mary wed wealthy Philip Garson rather than Robert Morgan, who is only comfortably well off. Garson, seeing Mary's affection for Robert, arranges for him to go to Africa on a tiger hunt, promising that the skins will bring a lot of money, and plans for two guides to kill him. Robert escapes and discovers a hidden Egyptian city containing wealthy, cultured, but superstitious and cannibalistic inhabitants. When Robert escapes from stakes held above poisonous fumes, the natives worship him as a god. Wanada, the daughter of the ruler falls in love with Robert and helps him escapes from her jealous lover. In New York, Robert discovers that his mother has died of grief after hearing Garson's story that Robert has died. With Wanada's help, Robert appears as a mystic and stops Garson's marriage to Mary. He fights Garson, but lets him go when Wanada intervenes. After Robert reveals his identity to Mary, they wed.
