Synopsis
Holdup man Dan Malloy is unable to reform for the girl he loves. The sheriff, his rival for the girl's affections, arranges a robbery in which Dan is trapped and sentenced to ten years in jail. Languishing in prison, Dan makes use of his artistic ability to sketch a figure of Christ on the wall of his cell. The next day, as a blasphemous murderer is lead to the gallows, he passes the drawing and is miraculously offered a vision of salvation through Christ. Dan sees the miracle and feels himself an instrument in God's hands. He begins to read the Bible, and as visiting artists view the portrait, they are astonished at the workmanship. Finally, a recommendation for Dan's pardon goes to the governor, and soon afterward, the reformed bandit steps out into the light a free man. Dan goes back to the girl who loves him, at last worthy of her love.
