Synopsis

Orphan June Wheeler leaves Chicago when she inherits a vast ranch in the West. At the ranch, her foreman, half-breed Jean Bautiste, falls in love with her, while she falls in love with her wealthy neighbor, Billy Durland, who later is elected sheriff and accepts the position for the fun of it. June's cousin, Tom Makinnon, arrives claiming the rights to half the land. While they examine the estate on horseback, June slaps Makinnon after he gets aggressive with her and rides off, dropping her revolver. When Makinnon is found dead with June's gun nearby, she is arrested and sent to jail. Billy burns down the jail so that June can investigate the murder and while helping her, he is shot in the arm by Bautiste. After June forces Bautiste to confess that he murdered Makinnon out of jealousy, Bautiste throws himself over a gorge and June and Billy marry.
