Synopsis

Dissatisfied when Doc Arnold can find nothing wrong with him, Ira Dayton, a wealthy hypochondriac, goes to Doctor Horatio Bell, a quack, who gladly identifies a multitude of deadly symptoms. Then, while treating his patient, Horatio makes him sign over a check for $10,000. Jessie, Ira's daughter, goes to Horatio to get the money back, and then, suddenly, Horatio is dead, the victim of a gunshot wound. Jessie is the prime suspect in the murder, but at her trial, Doc Arnold, after analyzing the murder weapon with a microscope, determines that the killer is consumptive. This places the blame on the tubercular, half-witted Jud, Ira's hired hand, who confesses to killing Horatio after finding out that he tried to seduce Hilda, the Dayton's maid. Then, after clearing Jessie of any suspicion, Doc Arnold marries her.
