Synopsis

Neglected by her busy husband, Elsie Maury falls in love with Don Arturo, a Spanish nobleman, and allows herself to be taken to his home outside Paris. A guilty conscience forces her to write a letter to her husband, but Arturo reads it and attempts to prevent its being mailed. Elsie is about to yield to him when a peasant, whose daughter Don Arturo has betrayed, kills him. Elsie flees, returns to her husband, and awaits the arrival of the letter. When it finally comes, the envelope contains blank paper. Elsie confesses everything to her husband and is forgiven.
