Synopsis
After the death of Judge Appleton, his four grown children, Robert, Virginia, Luke, and Daisy return home. In response to their father's last request, they have each promised to spend an hour of quiet meditation beside the coffin. Each of the children have failed to achieve their father's high moral standards. Daisy has had a child out of wedlock. Luke, a wastrel, has deserted his young wife and child. Robert, a successful businessman, has compromised his secretary. Virginia has married a man for money and leads a loveless life. As each of the characters sees their life unfold before them during their hour of meditation, they resolve to follow the high moral tenets held by their father.
