Synopsis

After a jovial evening, Jimmy Humphrey awakens in his bathtub to find "Buy Jerusalem Steel" written on his shirt; and playing a hunch, he borrows money from his future father-in-law, John Thorndyke, so as to buy 5,000 shares. When the stock falls, Thorndyke orders him to make good the loss; and to stall Thorndyke, Jimmy conspires with Barbara, his fiancée, and a friend, Taylor: a bloodstained knife and his hat are found, and a "murder mystery" is thus created. On the road, Jimmy is set upon by thieves, stripped of his clothing, and outfitted as a tramp. He is arrested as the murderer of Jimmy Humphrey, and before he is released, Barbara and Taylor are charged with being accessories. John Thorndyke arrives to release the prisoners, and it is discovered that Jerusalem Steel has reached a high mark on the market; Jimmy and Barbara receive the parental blessing.
