Synopsis

Cal Wagner is employed on Dixon's ranch with secret orders to prevent cattle rustling. He and Rawhide Smith see the rustlers in action but find that the hoofprints of their horses mysteriously disappear. The two are ambushed, and Cal, though outnumbered, puts his foes to flight, while Rawhide succeeds in capturing one of the gang. Alice Dixon, the owner's daughter, prevents the cowboys from lynching the rustler while foreman Sam Trapp and manager Harold Cole hold consultations to stall the sheriff. During a dance, Cole permits the rustler to escape, and when Cal questions him a fight ensues; Trapp shoots Cole, and Alice witnesses the murder; but she is kidnaped and taken to the gang's retreat. On circumstantial evidence, Cal is held for the crime, but Rawhide helps him escape, and they learn the secret of the rustlers' technique. They battle the gang until reinforcements arrive and Trapp's men are captured.
