Synopsis
Johnny White, whose claim to fame is as hometown entertainer, leaves home after a disagreement with his stepfather and goes to New York to promote his mother's homemade jam. He takes a job as hotel waiter and in that capacity meets Dorothy Fenton, her aunt, and a Mr. Tilford, a jam manufacturer. Johnny takes Dorothy to a phonograph store, where they play records and dance; when he is invited to a party at which he is detailed to work as a waiter, he contrives to play both guest and waiter at once. Employing his talent of ventriloquism, he advertises Ulika Jam on a radio announcement, a ploy that results in financial success. He thus rescues Dorothy from her villainous suitor.
