Synopsis
When the United States is drawn into the European conflict, Joe and Johnny Haines enlist and are sent to the front. Joe is killed during the war; Johnny, who remains overseas with the United States Occupation Forces, falls in love with a German girl, marries her, and brings her to America. To his dismay, he finds that bitter prejudice against Germans makes his father hostile to his wife. When the father, a town official, is assigned to pin a decoration of bravery on his son, Johnny publicly denounces his father's sense of false patriotism and his inability to forget the past. Later, the father, realizing his error, forgives his son, and the family is happy once again.
