Synopsis

Indiana Stillwater, spoiled daughter of a wealthy American railroad magnate, marries Viscount Canning and goes to England. Although her husband's family finds her unconventional attire and manners shocking, she is received kindly until Indiana's parents invite her to a Sunday-night supper in their hotel--an arrangement incompatible with her husband's notions of social propriety. She disobeys his order not to attend and, returning home, finds herself locked out, though an old butler admits her. Canning suggests a separation, but his wife repents and they are reconciled.
