Synopsis
Steve Carris, a young medical student, is expelled from college as the result of an escapade and seeks refuge with Hawkins, the owner of a traveling circus; though his sister Marian sides with him, his father and his brother, Peter, do not welcome his return home. Steve takes a job with the circus as canvas man and makes friends with all the troupe, especially Peg Palmer (a riding star), Harry Riley (the clown), and Bobby (his orphan grandchild). Barclay, the ringmaster, who resents Peg's friendship with Steve, becomes Steve's enemy after he receives a thrashing from him. Steve attempts a reconciliation with his family but is unsuccessful and takes Riley's place as the clown. Barclay plans revenge by releasing some wild animals, and Steve is injured in their stampede; Dr. Carris is reconciled with his son and learns that Bobby is the son of Grace, Peter's wife by another marriage; and Steve marries Peg.
