Synopsis

Polly Ann, an orphan whose only home has been the poor house, is taken by Simpkins to be the drudge in his tavern. When a traveling theater troupe stops at the inn, Polly seizes the opportunity to flee with them when they leave without paying their bill. After the attentions of the leading man become too insistent for Polly Ann, she is rescued by Howard Straightlane, a wealthy young man who has been disowned by his father for being too frivolous. Howard and Polly become fast friends when Howard's father discovers that the girl is his long-lost relative and takes her into his home. After a series of adventures, Howard is welcomed back into his father's home and marries Polly Ann.

Notes

This film was also known as Persnickety Polly Ann. Some contemporary sources and several modern sources refer to a film called The Little Reformer that seems to be the same film as Polly Ann, though it is unclear whether the film was ever shown under the former title. One contemporary source credits R. Cecil Smith with the story to Polly Ann and J. G. Hawks with the scenario. Arthur Hoyt served on the film as either an actor or a casting director.
