Synopsis
When her bankrupt father commits suicide, Anne Baxter seeks comfort with Carney, a wealthy stockbroker, despite her love for an impoverished artist who has deserted her. Anne and Carney make a bargain to have a loveless marriage, but when Carney finds the artist in his wife's bedroom, he leaves her. After her divorce from Carney, Anne goes on stage as a dancer. Soon she meets and marries Martin, a millionaire. Anne then attempts to undermine Carney's marriage to socialite Agnes Maynard, but her scheme fails and a disillusioned Martin throws her out.
