Synopsis

Ethel passes up a marriage proposal from famous game hunter Bill Gaynor in favor of leading life in the fast lane with socialite Charles Riddles. Returning home from a hunting trip, Bill learns that Ethel has suffered a nervous breakdown and gone to Dr. Jollyem's sanitarium to recuperate. Bill goes to investigate and, failing to convince Ethel to leave, resolves to save her and the rest of the hypochondriacs. He buys the sanitarium and through the ruse of a smallpox scare, evacuates all the inmates on board his yacht. The boat is wrecked on a desert island and the invalids all go ashore, bemoaning their hard luck. Bill forages for food and forces the invalids to exercise for their meals. One by one they all regain their health, and Bill again asks Ethel to marry him. She refuses, however, on the grounds that given the chance, she would return to her old life. One day Charley discovers that the city of Palm Beach is in the valley below them. Ethel and Charley are reunited with their society friends, but at a party that night, Ethel finds herself bored with their shallowness and longs for the natural life of their camp. Finding Bill on the lawn outside, she suggests that they hunt up a minister.
