Synopsis

Having become restless after 7 years of married life, Jacques Cartier welcomes a flirtation by the flippant Suzanna. Suspicious of her husband's numerous "business appointments," Madame Cartier invites Ray, Suzanna's fiancé, to accompany her to a ball where she is convinced her husband and Suzanna have gone. Cartier is informed by a magistrate of his wife's presence, and later he returns home in a jealous rage. Ray, slightly enamored of his companion, agrees to marry Madame Cartier when her husband insists on a divorce. The magistrate processes a fake divorce and then marries both couples; later, discovering they have each embarked on honeymoons, he locates them with some difficulty at the Cartiers' summer lodge, where each pair has gone unknown to the other, and performs a legal marriage for Ray and Suzanna. (Locale: Paris and nearby countryside.)
