Synopsis

When Blunt, the cattle king, attempts to force homesteaders from their land, Old Man Dowell opposes his efforts and is killed for his convictions. Because the town's sheriff is corrupt, Dowell's daughter Star decides that the only method of obtaining justice is to operate outside the law. Donning the guise of the masked bandit, Star exposes the sheriff who resigns and is replaced by Page, the man Star loves. After a series of confrontations between the bandit, the sheriff and the cattle baron, Blunt is finally convicted of Dowell's murder when one of his own gunmen turns against him. Thus avenged, Star can at last drop her alter ego to become Page's wife.

Notes

This film was shot in the second half of 1917 under the title The Dead Line in Boulder Creek, CA, and in the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. Contemporary trade articles state that the members of the production were associated with Michelena during her time with the California Motion Picture Corp. The film was not released until 1920, when Robertson-Cole had acquired many of the properties formerly belonging to Michelena and the California Motion Picture Corp.
