Synopsis
A western mining town is besieged by the Black Bandit, who repeatedly robs the stagecoach; and amidst talk of ousting the sheriff, deputy sheriff Leo McHale brings in Frenchy, a local layabout whom he suspects. The miners and townsmen, headed by Nathan Jessup, want a lynching, but McHale effects a clever escape with his prisoner. Blaisdell, a lawyer who agrees to help, lets Frenchy escape, claiming to have been overpowered by him. After a mob has almost lynched Jessup's innocent son following another stagecoach robbery, McHale proves that Blaisdell is backing the bandit and wins the hand of Doris, Jessup's daughter.
