Synopsis

Socialite Alice Gardner ends her engagement to wealthy sportsman Pete Milholland after he shows up drunk for a polo match. Despondent, Pete goes slumming at Coney Island where he falls in love with Tessie, an exotic dancer whose stage name is Princess Zim-Zim. Pete brings Tessie home with him, and the entire upper crust is shocked by the romance. Pete is determined to marry her, though, largely because he has learned that Alice has become engaged to Tony Graves. When the former lovers meet accidentally, however, Alice tells Pete that she and Tony have made no plans. Pete embraces her, then Tessie walks in on the sweetheart's reunion. Forcing herself to lie, Tessie claims that she never loved Pete and frees him of any obligation to her so that he can marry Alice.
