Synopsis

When George Baxter finds his wife with Paul Sneed, he kills Paul, then escapes to a small Western town. After George gets word that his wife has died, he falls in love with a woman who persuades him to give himself up and go on trial for the murder. The situation seems desperate for George because Paul's father, Judge Sneed, presides at the trial. Sneed serves not only as judge, however, but as the star witness as well. He claims that he saw the murder and then declares George innocent because he simply followed the "unwritten law." After his acquittal, George goes back to the small town, marries his sweetheart and becomes sheriff.
