Synopsis

Honest John Andrews, an itinerant horse trader, arrives at the ranch of Solon Kemper, a retired Federal judge who has just sold his cattle to clear his debts. Kemper, a cripple, has just signed over the check to Uriah Hodge when two gamblers present a bill of sale, signed by Kemper's son, Bud, which they claim to have won at cards, but young Kemper claims he did not sign the note. Bud and Alice go to Hodge's office to seek a renewal on the loan, while Honest John follows and finds traces of attempted forgeries. Warned of his peril by the judge's daughter, John contrives to impersonate an alleged "twin brother," who is a notorious criminal, but Hodge and the gamblers soon catch on to the ruse, frame him for murdering his "twin," and persuade the judge to relinquish his ranch. But John escapes jail and proves that Hodge is seeking revenge for a sentence the judge passed on his son.
