Synopsis

Larry Bannon, a young mining engineer, gets into a dice game in a San Francisco gambling establishment and is so successful that the proprietor tries to cheat him. Attempting to escape with his winnings, Bannon wounds a man planted to intercept his flight and is arrested; Judge Casper Paine is unsympathetic to his pleas and sentences him to 3 years' imprisonment. At the time of Bannon's release, Paine, who now operates a mine, is being ruined by Oberfield, his foreman, who is being bribed by Godfrey, a syndicate representative. Paine advertises for an investor, and Bannon responds to his offer under an assumed name. Although he is softened by Helen, the ex-judge's daughter, Bannon is bent on revenge; but after saving him from a mine accident, she tells him about the plotters. After subduing Oberfield and Godfrey in a fight, Bannon is trapped with Helen in a mine flood; but they are rescued at the last minute and find happiness together.
