Synopsis

Artist Pierre Clemenceau visits the Parisian studio of his friend Constantin Ritz and falls in love with model Iza Dobronowska. Iza ignores the artist, however, until she discovers that her mother Countess Dobronowska is making financial arrangements for her to marry wealthy Russian Duke Sergius. Iza accepts Pierre's proposal, and the two are wed. Scorning her husband, Iza alienates Pierre's family and forms a romantic liaison with Sergius. Pierre learns of her betrayal and kills Sergius in a duel. Disillusioned, Pierre travels to America with Constantin and his new bride. Iza inherits a fortune from Sergius and also sails to America, where she entices Constantin into an adulterous affair. To save his friend's marriage, Pierre lures Iza to his apartment, stabs her to death and then reports his crime to the police.
