Synopsis

Dierdre Saurin, an English girl, becomes infatuated with Major Kinsella while he is on leave to England from his post in East Africa, and when he returns to duty she follows on the pretext of seeing her brother. Maurice Stair, son of the marquis and insanely jealous of Dierdre, is sent to the village by his father and plans revenge. Dierdre refuses to drop Kinsella even when she learns he is married. The major organizes his men to meet a horde of warring Africans on the veldt, while Maurice remains at the settlement; he convinces Dierdre that Kinsella has been killed in the battle, and she finally marries him. Maurice ultimately confesses his deception and after great hardship rescues Kinsella; Dierdre realizes her love for Maurice.
