Synopsis
Allen Harvey and Mary Condon, former members of a New York gang headed by Jim Kingston, get work in a California hotel in an attempt to go straight. Also in their company are Paul, who has lost his memory from a war injury, and Mose, a Negro porter. Detective McCann suspects their former affiliation with the gang. Kingston arrives, recognizes McCann, and threatens to expose his former associates unless they help him steal some jewels from the hotel safe; and Mary, to prevent Allen from being harmed, agrees to leave with Kingston, who, unknown to her, frames the robbery and the murder of Paul on Allen. Kingston deserts her in a train wreck, and she is cared for by a Mrs. Carter, who believes her son (Paul) was killed in the war. At a Hallowe'en party Allen and Mary are reconciled, and McCann unmasks Kingston, who dies escaping from the police.
