Synopsis

Although Patience Hilton becomes convinced by her father's kindly head bookkeeper Magnus "Magpie" MacDonald that one can only be happy through living the simple life, she fails to convince her millionaire parents, aunt, or boyfriend Hale Thompson to give up their life of luxury. Thinking her father would be better off if he worked rather than worried about his money, Patience and "Magpie" blow open her father's safe intent on hiding the money, using the advice of their butler Dugan, an ex-burglar. Two men in policemen's uniforms catch them in the act, chloroform them, and steal all her father's securities, which he had just brought home from his bank. Patience is cured of her "back to nature" beliefs when the family begins a life of toil and drudgery. Hale, remaining true to Patience, tracks the crooks and finds that they were led by Dugan. When the money is recovered, Hale proposes to a changed Patience.
