Synopsis

Dick Tyler, the junior partner in the law firm of Knight and Tyler, attempts to persuade Jim Knight, his older partner, that it is cheaper to be married than to trifle with love. Knight is infatuated with Evelyn, a gold digger who is making lavish and unreasonable demands on him, but Knight is satisfied and keeps meeting her every desire. Knight's prodigality places the firm close to bankruptcy, and he turns to Evelyn to assist him financially. Evelyn refuses, and Knight kills himself. Dick's wife, Doris, persuades a banker friend to accept Dick's personal note to keep the firm solvent. Evelyn soon finds another lover and spends her new fortune on him.
